10 Killed in Nyamira as Motorists are Stranded Along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway

At least 10 people have lost their lives after fatal road accidents along the Kericho-Nyamira road at the Tombe Bw'arani area in Nyamira county and another along the busy Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The accident in Nyamira occurred on Saturday, December 13, at night, involving a PSV vehicle travelling from Nairobi and a trailer.

According to reports, others, including the two who were seated in the back seats of the PSV vehicle, escaped with serious injuries.

Images obtained byKenyans.co.keshow that one side of the PSV vehicle was destroyed, whilethe trailer, which blocked the road after the incident, suffered minimal damage.

Following the incident, other motorists, police, and emergency responder services arrived at the scene to assess the situation and rescue the survivors.

On a separate accident on Saturday evening, several people also lost their lives after a grisly road accident along the same route involving two trucks.

The crash occurred after the two heavy commercial vehicles collided head-on, leaving the front section of one truck completely mangled. The second truck veered off the road and rolled down a steep roadside embankment.

The accident also caused a traffic snarl-up along the busy route, with some motorists forced to take alternative routes.

The exact number of fatalities had not been officially confirmed by the time of publishing

The accident comes just a day after former Cabinet Minister and Lugari member of Parliament, Cyrus Jirongo, passed away the same after a grisly road accident.

The accident occurred at the Karai area of Naivasha along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, involving his car and a 65-seater passenger bus, killing him on the spot.

According to the bus driver,Jirongo rammed into the bus after attempting to overtakeother vehicles that were stuck in a gridlock along the busy road.

"I was heading to Busia from Nairobi, the Mercedes did not give way, the driver of the Mercedes saw that there were vehicles on his route and decided to come my way, and that is what resulted in the accident," the driver said.
