Govt Announces Immediate Grade 10 Placement, Reporting Set for January

Placement of theGrade 10 learners will take place over the next two weeks, with students set to report to their assigned schools next month, the Ministry of Education has announced.
Addressing the press on Thursday, December 11, the Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos revealed this while releasing the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results in Nairobi.
Migos said that learners can now access their results, with school selections and career pathways set to be released in a fortnight. However, for the learners' academic performance, teachers and parents were directed to access the KNEC portal:kjsea.knec.ac.ke/
Under the current Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), learners have been categorised under four career pathways, including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Social Sciences and Arts, and Sports Sciences.
According to Ogamba, of the over 1,130,459 candidates who sat for the examinations, 59.09 per cent demonstrated the potential to pursue the STEM pathways at senior school.
He further noted that 46.25 per cent had demonstrated the capacity to pursue the Social Sciences, while 48.73 per cent had shown the capability to pursue the Arts and Sports Sciences pathway.
Ogamba added that the learners would be placed in their senior schools based on their performances and their selected pathways in line with the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms.
During the presser, the CS revealed that the grade 9 learners would transition to the senior schools by January 12 next year, with the learners expected to receive their admission before the said date.
