How to Check 2025 KCSE Results

The Ministry of Education has finally announced the release of the much-awaited 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), ending weeks of speculation.

The 2025 KCSE examinations were released on Friday, January 9, at theAIC Chebisaas High School in Eldoretin a ceremony attended by senior education stakeholders, led by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba.

According to the Ministry of Education, about 993,000 students sat for the examinations, with270,000 attaining C+ and above, securing a direct entry to university.

Following the official release of the national examination, all the candidates can now check their 2025 KCSE results through the official KNEC portal;results.knec.ac.ke.

To access the results, candidates must key in their index numbers along with their names exactly as captured in the registration details for the 2025 KCSE examination.

Step 1: A student is required to visit the KNEC website and proceed to the 'KCSE Results' menu and click theresults.knec.ac.ke.

Step 2: The student will be prompted to enter their 11-digit index number exactly as it appears on their 2025 KCSE exam registration form.

Step 3: A learner should then type the registered name as used during the exam registration.

Step 4: Click Submit to view your results on the screen. A candidate can also click the download button to obtain a copy of the results.

Kenyans seeking to check their examination results through a Short Message Service (SMS) can do so by sending their index numbers to a short code through20076at a cost of Ksh25 per SMS.

KCSE results are graded on a scale ranging from A, the highest, to E, the lowest, alongside special grades such as X, Y and W that are awarded under specific circumstances.

A Grade X is issued to candidates who were absent from the examination, while Grade Y denotes involvement in an examination irregularity, and Grade W indicates that a learner’s results have been withheld.
