Kalonzo Criticizes Ruto's State Of The Nation Address over Rule Of Law Concerns

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka criticized President Ruto's State of the Nation address, claiming that it failed to address fundamental issues like the respect of the Constitution and the rule of law.

Kalonzo addressed this during a rally in Lunyinya in Malava on Friday, November 21, 2025, in a united opposition rally in the Western region.

He accused Ruto of failing to address the disregard of the rule of law where he alleged that the President is silent as state officers engage actively in the ongoing by-election campaigns.

The opposition leader further claimed that the President of the Law Society of Kenya, Faith Odhiambo, resigned from President William Ruto’s Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Demonstrations and Public Protests for this reason.

The Wiper leader also accused the President of deceiving Kenyans on the projects he announced during his Thursday address in Parliament. Kalonzo alleged that the President is taking full credit of projects which have been funded by foreign nations.

"Ruto deceived the UK Prime Minister who he met in a historical city in Egypt. They agreed that the Europeans will help Kenya build the High Grand Falls Hydroelectric Power Station which will produce over 700 megawatts, now he is bringing it in the form of Private Public Partnership. This is the kind of lies that Kenyans are tired of," Kalonzo revealed.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, who was also part of the opposition brigade in Malava, criticized President William Ruto for not addressing challenges facing the education sector. Khalwale claimed that CBC is not working across the country.

The opposition once again criticized the presence of President William Ruto's Personal Assistant, Farouk Kibet, in Malava, who is campaigning for the UDA candidate in Malava, David Ndakwa.

The opposition leader urged Malava residents to support DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako, claiming that the Malava victory will indicate the unity and strength of the opposition in the country.

Kalonzo Musyoka also affirmed the experience of the leaders in the united opposition, claiming that they have what it takes to run the country.

Leaders who attended the opposition rally in Malava included the Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala, among others.
