Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado Among Regions to Experience Rains and Showers This Week - Kenya Met

Although most regions in the country are expected to remain sunny and dry this week, the Kenya Meteorological Department has urged residents in certain areas to brace for more rains and strong winds this week.

In its weekly forecast, he department noted that some counties, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Marsabit, Meru, Makueni and Machakos, are likely to experience rains and showers between Tuesday, December 2, to Saturday, December 6.

The weatherman further noted that Turkana and Marsabit counties are likely to be hit with strong south-easterly winds of above 25 knots (12.5m/s).

Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi counties will experience day-long sunny conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Cloudy conditions are also expected to prevail at night during these days. However, residents might experience showers during the afternoon and night until Saturday.

It is, however, expected that the maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 29°C, with a minimum of 5°C.

Showers and rains are expected to hit some areas in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, as well as the inland parts of Tana River County, throughout the week, according to the weatherman.

According to the weather forecast, the maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to be 34°C, while the minimum will be 15 °C.

It is predicted that several parts of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale counties, as well as Tana River County,  will experience daylong showers throughout the week.The nights are expected to remain generally cloudy, according to the weatherman.

These counties are expected to record maximum temperatures of 33°C and minimum temperatures of 23°C.

Sunny conditions are expected to prevail in several areas of Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot counties for most of the week.

The forecast, however, predicts thatshowers might be experienced in these areas on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoons.

During this period, the maximum temperatures in these counties are expected to reach 32°C, while the minimum will be 7°C.

Residents of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties can expect sunny conditions throughout Tuesday and Wednesday, with clear nights as well. From Thursday to Saturday, these areas may experience daytime showers and rainfall, which could also extend into the night.

According to the weatherman, Turkana and Samburu counties can expect daylong sunny conditions and partly cloudy conditions. The forecast predicts maximum temperatures of 37°C and minimum temperatures of 8°C in these counties.
