A child, a mother, and an Uber driver are trapped under a truck that rammed into a wall in Kiserian, sparking frantic rescue efforts on the afternoon of January 17.
The horrific accident occurred along the Ngong-Matasia route when the heavy Isuzu truck veered off the road and crashed into a parked Uber car.
Desperate rescuers are captured in a 57-minute video attempting to pull the truck sideways to free the victims trapped beneath the wreckage.
“As you can see, we are trying to pull the truck to fall on the side so that we can rescue achild who is stuck beneath the wreckage,” one rescuer stated.
The Uber car had been parked beside a wall when the truck suddenly landed on top of it, crushing the vehicle completely.
Eyewitnesses at the scene describe a chaotic atmosphere as onlookers gather around while emergency responders work to extract the trapped occupants.
"The truck was travelling from Ngong to Matasia when the accident occurred. The truck veered off the road and rammed into the Uber car that had parked beside the wall and crashed it completely," one eyewitness explains in the viral footage.
Police have restricted the area to control traffic flow and facilitate easier access for rescue teams working against time.
The extent of injuries and potential fatalities remains unconfirmed as rescue operations continue at the crash site.
This incident adds to Kenya's troubling road safety record, with over 40 deaths recorded in the first days of 2026 alone.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA)recently ordered mandatory retests for drivers violating traffic rules following increased reckless driving incidents.
NTSA's directive came after a viral video showed aTahmeed bus dangerously overtaking on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, prompting stricter enforcement measures.
The authority has urged Kenyans to report reckless driving cases as the country grapples with rising road accidents and fatalities.
