Ruto Announces Renovation, Upgrade of Section of Mombasa Road-Uhuru Highway-Waiyaki Road

The government has announced plans to upgrade the existing highway connecting Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and ABC Point via Uhuru Highway and Waiyaki Way.

Speaking on Friday, 12 December during this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations, President William Ruto insisted that renovating the road was crucial to easing congestion.

He said the renovation of the 27-kilometre route, which begins from Mombasa Road, through to Uhuru Highway in Nairobi Central Business District, to Waiyaki Way , would start this month.

According to the Head of State, the decision was also informed by the poor state of the road, which he said had posed consistent challenges to motorists using the route.

"When you go for Christmas this month, we will renovate the highway which connects from JKIA, through to ABC and beautify it so that Nairobi can look better," Ruto noted.
